Treatment for Computer Vision Syndrome
Computer Vision Syndrome is a common vision problem that affects up to 125 million people. It is a direct consequence of prolonged computer use which causes eye discomfort and vision problems due to an increased demand for the eyes to focus, track, and converge. According to the American Optometric Association, the most common symptoms associated with Computer Vision Syndrome are the following:
- Eyestrain
- Headaches
- Blurred vision
- Dry eyes
- Neck and shoulder pain
In some cases, individuals who do not require the uses of eyeglasses for other daily activities may benefit from spectacles prescribed specifically for computer use. Similarly, persons already wearing glasses may find their current prescription does not provide optimal vision for viewing a computer. After a comprehensive history and complete exam, our doctors will be able to reduce visual problems due to computer use by recommending glasses designed for your specific working distance, eye drops, a change in monitor location or lighting, glare control, and/or methods to improve overall visual hygiene.
